From Hunter Mountain Competition Programs Director, Level IV USSA Coach Jim Catalano:

Congratulations to Izabella Ostrowski, Jonathan Yudell and Austin Michael Lilley for qualifying for the 2010 USSA J4 Future Stars being held in Waterville Valley, NH March 21 -23. They will be among the top J4 athletes representing New York State in this regional event.

Representing Hunter and New York State will be: Ez...ra Hornik and Deenae Sujak at the 2010 Piche Invitational J3-4-5 multi state invitational race held at Gunstock, NH March 19 and 20.

Congratulations to the athletes their parents and coaches.

USSA J1-2 Eastern Finals - Gore Mt. march 2010 -

This just in, Hunter Mountain ski racer Dan Garvey came in SECOND place today in the 2010 USSA J1-2 Eastern Finals today at Gore, Coach Galen Gobillot reported. This result is coming off the back of a sixth place finish in the men's Super G on March 8th.

Kandahar Championship Team

Congratulations Ezra and Samira on a great weekend of racing. For those

of you who haven't heard, Ezra and Samira made the Kandahar

Championship Team. Ezra was named J4 boys Skimeister and Samira

Skimeister of the J3 Girls for the event! Way to go!

Volkl Skis and Marker Bindings Donate to HMRF

    Throughout the season many of Hunter Mountain’s alpine racers get on the hill before it opens to do speed training for Super G and Downhill races.  To run these races athletes need skis that are longer and designed to run straighter and absorb vibration. It is quite an investment for families to have to buy skis for every discipline.  

    So, to help differ the expense and to allow athletes to train on equipment specifically designed for speed, Volkl has donated a new pair of race stock  RaceTiger Super G skis and Marker has donated a set of competition bindings with a dampening plate.  The Foundation and its member athletes are very grateful for this donation.

Athletes Receive Over $20,000 in Grants

    True to the goals of the HMRF, member athletes have received grants to help cover the costs of entry fees and travel expenses beyond their regional competition venue.  The athletes have worked hard to advance in their disciplines and it is clearly indicated by their success.
